House Numbering
The Murphy Police Explorers is a non-profit organization that is
governed by Learning for Life which is a part of the Boy Scouts of
America. Currently, we have 12 kids that range from 14 to 20 years old.
The explorers represent the City of Murphy and they volunteer several
hours of community service. The explorers also work several fundraisers
so that we can buy uniforms and equipment that is needed for the
explorers as well as participate in various competitions.
One of their community service projects in 2010 is to paint house
numbers on the curb in front of each home. This will help police and
fire emergency vehicles locate homes faster when help is needed. The
scheduled dates for this project for Murphy Farms are Saturday, April 17
and Saturday, April 24. The Board has approved paying for all numbering
as a donation to the Murphy Police Explorers.
March 2010 Board Meeting
MD Johnson and Nick Pappas have been re-elected to the
Board.
You should have received your 2010 HOA packet by now. Included
on the CD you will find the 2010 Pool Code on the cover page (PDF page
#33). Weather permitting we will open the pool area and rest rooms on
April 1.
Please also review the
Policy Statement Architectural and Landscaping Rules and Standards
as there are updates concerning fences, solar panels, and screening
materials for AC units. If you have any questions, please contact Robert
Rathmell, ACC chairman.
We are still needing volunteers to chair the ladies group, annual
garage sale, and Halloween and Holiday events for our children. Please
contact
Virginia Stein if you would like to chair any one of these
events.
2010-2011 Elementary Attendance Zones
In a process that was begun in November of 2009, the WISD Board of
Trustees approved the elementary attendance zones for 2010-2011. The
criteria set by the board were placed in priority order as the lines
were drawn:
- provide community-based (neighborhood elementary schools),
- move as few students as possible and
- maximize financial savings.
As a result of the approval, the Dual Language program at Tibbals
will move to Smith. The Whitt program will be moved to Cox, and a new
Dual Language kindergarten class will begin at Watkins Elementary. All
Pre-Kindergarten programs will be located at Hartman.
The attendance zone for each high school and junior high did not
change. Students living in the elementary zones that become effective in
2010-2011 will attend the following campuses:
- Whitt, Tibbals and Groves go to Cooper Junior High/Draper
Intermediate
- Cox,Hartman, Watkins and Akin (East of Highway 78) go to Burnett
Junior High/Harrison Intermediate
- Birmingham, Dodd, Smith and Akin (West of Highway 78) go to
McMillan Junior High/Davis Intermediate
